***MEET AMANDA HEGER, Author of WITHOUT BORDERS (The Wanderlove series)***

Amanda Heger is a writer, attorney, and bookworm. She lives in the Midwest with three unruly rescue dogs and a husband who encourages her delusions of grandeur.

Her debut romance, Without Borders, is forthcoming from Diversion Books. The story was inspired by the summer Amanda spent in rural Nicaragua, eating gallo pinto, speaking mangled Spanish, and showing high school students how to slide condoms onto over-sized plantains.

***WITHOUT BORDERS (The Wanderlove series)***

For Annie London, a month in a Central American rainforest means handing out mosquito nets, giving medical aid, and teaching children about the birds and the bees. With any luck, it will also land her application in the “accepted” pile at a top tier medical school. But as soon as she steps off the plane, Annie realizes her bug spray, feeble Spanish, and medical supplies won’t help her deal with her new feelings for Felipe—her best friend’s older brother, who’s much hotter than she remembers, and who also happens to be the doctor in charge of the trip.

Gawking “volun-tourists” may keep his family’s medical clinic afloat, but Dr. Felipe Gutierrez doesn’t have to like them. Or the way they make snap judgments about his practice and the people he cares for. But when his old crush, Annie, shows up to volunteer, her killer curves and kind smile fan the embers of a flame Felipe didn’t realize he’d been carrying. A flame that makes him question all his preconceived notions.

As ideas and cultures clash, Annie and Felipe must decide how far outside their comfort zones they are willing to go—both for their work and for one another.

And now…

Felipe heard the roar before he saw it. But with only a few steps more, the trees and tall grasses thinned, giving way to a valley of lush greens and browns grown bright in the rainy season. Clear water rushed through a canal in the center, and giant boulders broke the water’s surface, like an arrow pointing to the rumbling waterfall ahead.

“How did you guys find this place?” Annie asked. “Do you come here every time? I would. It’s amazing.” She skipped ahead of him and hopped in the creek, barely stopping to strip down to her bathing suit.

But when she did, all thoughts of his sister fled.

“In the rainy season,” he said. He followed Annie into the clear, cool water, opting not to tell her how he and Marisol had come here as kids with their biological mother. Or how they’d never brought foreigners here—until today. Until her.

Across the creek, Juan floated on the water’s surface—eyes closed and motionless.

“He’s alive, right?” she asked.

“Yes.” Felipe stepped closer, his hand falling flat against Annie’s arm. “But I do not want to talk about Juan anymore.” He lowered his forehead to hers, breathing her air and sinking into the warmth of her skin.

Six years. His heart hammered in his chest. Six years since the first time he’d thought about kissing her.

“Help! Get it away. Get it away!”

Water pinged his eyes and cheeks, the shock of it sending Felipe a step backward. He turned in the direction of the voice—Juan’s voice—only to see the man floundering toward them in his lime green Speedo. Every few feet, he flung his hands in the air, squealed, and threw himself underwater.

“Oh my God!” Annie’s gaze darted between Felipe and Juan. “Is it a pit viper?” She cut toward the shore, leaving tiny waves behind her. “I read—”

Felipe caught her arm, heart slowing then speeding up again. “It is fine.”

“Are you sure?”

Juan turned and began his mad water dance in the other direction, shouting obscenities in Spanish as he dipped in and out of the water. And as quickly as he started shouting, he stopped.

He climbed to the opposite shore, bent at the waist and panting as water dripped from his mustache.

“What just happened?”

Felipe bit the inside of his cheek to keep from laughing. “Juan is afraid of horseflies.”

To enter, you need to know that my lucky book number is 8.
