Bitter Pill, my mystery for adults (well, for anyone really) is out this week! $2.99 on Kindle. (ETA: And $2.99 at Smashwords for those who prefer a different format. And we’re working on making it available for NOOK.)

As I’ve mentioned before, it’s my take on a grown-up version of Nancy Drew. Only Rennie’s life is not nearly as pulled together as Nancy’s.

Rennie is kind of a mess. She’s recently divorced, living in an apartment above her mother’s garage, and in love with someone she can’t have. Plus, she finds dead bodies on a disturbingly regular basis. (Nothing paranormal there; she’s just nosy with some extremely bad luck and/or timing.)

In short, her life kind of sucks at the moment. Which made her really fun to write.

That sounds cruel and author-y evil, I know. But I’ve learned over the years that writing flawed characters (with lots of room to grow) is way more fun than writing characters who’ve got their crap together. (Because, seriously, don’t we all hate those people anyway? :D)

I hope you’ll check it out. 🙂 You can read the first 2 chapters free through the Amazon sample, if you want to give it a whirl and see what you think.
